Experience |
Gavin has worked in the wool harvesting industry in both New Zealand and Australia for over 30 years.
He started his working life as a shearer and held several ganger appointments before branching out and starting his own shearing contracting business.
Gavin has competed in a number of shearing competitions and represented South Island in 1986. He actively supports the shearing community as a judge and a member of the Canterbury Shearing Committee and Shearing Sports New Zealand. His contribution is indicative of his dedication and enthusiasm for the shearing industry.
Gavin thrives on being a part of the training process. He is motivated by the challenge of training a beginner who has never shorn a sheep before and seeing the pride and the progress they make over a four day course. He is committed to increasing the skills and knowledge of all those associated with wool harvesting.
Starting his training career as a regional training coordinator, Gavin is now responsible for the overall management and delivery of all Tectra wool harvesting training throughout the country - but that he still loves the chance to get out and deliver workshops and do a bit of in-shed training.
