Farmers who are on the electoral roll of either the New Zealand Meat Board or the New Zealand Wool Board are entitled to receive these publications free of charge.

Those publications marked (limited circulation) are initially released on a restricted circulation basis. They will be available for release after a suitable time period has elapsed.

A Survey of inputs used on sheep and beef farms as recorded over 12 month period January to January. Released late March.
On farm inflation rate is related to changes in the prices paid for farm inputs and not to changes in the level of total farm expenditure.

Publication released during the mid-season (December) summarising the key farming points for the year to date. Further analysis details revised estimates for the current season of stock numbers as at 30 June, stock performance, production volumes, prices received, prices paid and farm gate terms of exchange, sheep and beef farm revenue and expenditure, financing farm operations and an outlook for the following season. The publication contains trend data.

Wool Production Outlook

A Publication summarising by region estimates for the current season. Seasonal conditions affecting feed and stock condition, shearing patterns are commented on. Stock numbers and wool production are provided together with estimates of auction and private sales and wool production by segment.
The wool price outlook for the season as affected by market influences, price relativities, stocks, New Zealand price outlook and export lamb and sheep prices are commented on.
Reports from the five production regions are included.

This paper covers beef and dairy cattle numbers, dairy beef retention and beef production by region.
Export and local beef slaughterings together with beef imports are commented on along with comments on seasonal and market conditions.
A separate reference is made on the bobby veal production.
Inter-regional stock flows are recorded.

A quarterly publication containing island and national estimates for export lamb, mutton and beef production. The paper contains comments on stock numbers and lambing, current season production. The end of year quarter provides an outlook for the following season.

SHEEP AND BEEF FARM SURVEY(Click here for a sample)

This annual publication contains the results of a detailed Survey of sheep and beef farms carried out by the New Zealand Meat and Wool Boards' Economic Service.
The publication is a reference document containing actual farm data published 18 months after the end of each farming year when actual farm financial accounts have been made available for analysis.
The Survey publication presents data by farm class and region on a per farm, hectare and stock unit basis. The content includes physical performance data, stock reconciliations, fertiliser usage and financial account analysis that covers, revenue, expenditure, balance sheet structure and flow of funds analysis.
The Survey provides the base for the New Zealand Meat and Wool Boards' Economic Service forecasts.
Current year information from Survey farms is incorporated into forecast and estimate reports.

ANNUAL REVIEW OF THE SHEEP AND BEEF INDUSTRY (Click here for a sample)

An up to date review of the sheep and beef industry for the year to 30 June released August each year.
The publication contains an overview of the year. The stock number trends, meat production, wool production, fertiliser usage, store stock prices, land values, price levels in New Zealand and overseas, export receipt sources and New Zealand interest and exchange rate information is detailed.

The paper covers a summary of the farming year ending June. The report is presented in two sections - section 1 containing the national overview and section 2 regional reports from the five New Zealand reporting regions.

This paper provides Survey results that update previous estimates for lambs tailed in the spring.
The report covers the total number of ewes mated, lambing percentage, by region and island and a forecast of the export lamb slaughter for the current year.
General comments of the overall lambing, lamb thrift, drafting, schedule comments are recorded. Regional production area reports are included.

Goat Industry Livestock Production and Returns Information

This paper is designed as a reference document providing physical and financial data from major sources of information on the New Zealand goat industry and is updated annually.
The report includes time series of goat numbers, herd size and region statistics, farm types with goat herds and physical and financial data for sheep and beef farms with goats. Slaughtering and production patterns over time are recorded on an island and New Zealand basis. Farm gate returns for goat products are noted together with FOB receipts and export volumes.

Produced bi-annually in April
An easy ready reference covering farm production details of a general nature. Wool, meat, dairying, pigs, arable, deer and goat information is recorded.
The FOB value of New Zealand exports on a year end basis are recorded.
Topdressing information including fertiliser sales and aerial topdressing statistics are provided.
The value and volume of agricultural production and principle farming statistics by local government regions are tabled.
