Code of Recommendations and Minimum Standards for the Welfare of SheepAn Edited Version IntroductionNew Zealand's sheep are free of many of the serious debilitating and fatal diseases that affect sheep in other countries. However, welfare considerations are becoming increasingly important worldwide. This means our access to international markets increasingly depends on our ability to provide quality assurance. Demonstrably high animal welfare standards play a vital part in that assurance. The Code of Recommendations and Minimum Standards for the Welfare of Sheep complements legislation by outlining the minimum standards that are currently acceptable.
